Displacement, position, angle - in industrial automation where positions have to be precisely determined, you simply cannot beat an encoder.

The same applies when determining speed and acceleration. Due to their working principle, the photoelectric scanning of optical code patterns, in linear displacement measurement these sensors have a resolution of micrometers and in angle measurement they have a resolution of a few thousandths of a degree. With less demanding tasks, of course, they cope easily.

This HIPERDRIVE® format adjustment drive is the result of the logical and complete integration of power gearbox, brushless DC motor, absolute value encoder and the control and power electronics in one drive.

SICK Sensor

SICK’s UM30 and UM18 ultrasonic sensors detect objects and measure distances with high accuracy.

An inductive proximity sensor comprises an LC oscillating circuit, a signal evaluator, and a switching amplifier.The coil of this oscillating circuit generates a high-frequency electromagnetic alternating field. This field is emitted at the sensing face of the sensor. If a metallic object (switching trigger) nears the sensing face, eddy currents are generated. The resultant losses draw energy from the oscillating circuit and reduce the oscillations. The signal evaluator behind the LC oscillating circuit converts this information into a clear signal.

Capacitive proximity sensors are able to detect both non-metallic and metallic objects. The larger the dielectric constant of the object, the larger the sensing range of the sensor. Capacitive proximity sensors can be used in the following applications:

Magnetic proximity sensors are characterized by the ability for large sensing distances, available from sensors with small dimensions. They detect magnetic objects (usually permanent magnets) which are used to trigger the sensing process.

For many tasks in automation technology, it is necessary to detect the movement processes and positions of pneumatic cylinders accurately.In response to this problem, SICK offers special magnetic cylinder sensors used to detect the position of pistons in pneumatic cylinders. They are attached directly to the piston through the housing wall, which could be made of aluminium, brass, or stainless steel.

Detection of low objects, e.g. on conveyor belt. Objects, which reduce distance from the sensing plane to the sensor, are detected to large objects.

Pepperl+Fuchs's Incremental rotary encoders supply a certain number of pulses for each shaft revolution. Speed is measured by counting the pulses for a period of time. To calculate angle or the distance covered, pulses are counted starting from a reference point. Dual channel quadrature output encoders feature two signal outputs that are 900 out of phase with each other. This permits the controller to determine direction of rotation and perform bi-directional positioning tasks. In addition, three-channel incremental encoders have a third signal channel (known as “zero”, or reference, signal) that provides a single pulse for each revolution.

Pepperl+Fuchs's Absolute rotary encoders provide a distinctly coded numerical value for each shaft position. Thanks to the short response time of 0.2 milliseconds, di-soric contrast sensors are suited to be used in fast-moving processes. Start-up is user-friendly either by using the teach key or the the remote teach function. The sensors are working with white light and are characterised by a sturdy casing and a high protection class.

di-soric retro-reflective sensors have been developed for many different fields of applications. Functional highlights like a sturdy casing and a compact design feature these sensors.Even appliations in very demanding environmental conditions and outdoor applications can be reliably solved thanks to the high protection class IP 69 K. The transmitter and the receiver are located in the same housing and the receiver detects the light emitted by the transmitter that has been reflected by a reflector. The availability in different sensing ranges ensure inexpensive solutions for many different types of sensing applications.

di-soric distance sensors will be used for the exact distance measurement with different ranges. The sensors have a switching andor analog output and work with infrared or laser light.

They will be used for heightloop control on conveyor belts up to precise distance measurement on linear units. Furthermore these sensors can be used as diffuse sensor with background suppression up to a sensing range of 10 m. All distance sensors are featured by a sturdy metal casing.

The di-soric high performance photocell sensors have been developed in various compact housing models. These sensors guarantee a good performance even at an extreme high degree of contamination.
Chips, dust, flour, oil, dirt water offer no resistance to these through-beam sensors, and thereby these sensors can be used in many applications in the wood and paper industry, control of bulk material, in elevators, for outdoor gate control, in the food industry and many more fields. The photocells work using red as well as infrared modulated light, ensuring a good immunity to parasitic light influences.

di-soric through beam sensors have been developed for the most different applications. Functional highlights like a sturdy housing and a compact design feature these sensors. Even applications in demanding environmental conditions and also outdoors can be easily solved thanks to the protections class IP 69 K.
di-soric laser through beams sensors will be applied when having an application in automation, where very tiny objects have to be detected safely, quickly and reliably. Thanks to the use of collimated red light laser, a continuous high accuracy of the switching point can be reached over the entire range between transmitter and receiver.
